Can I please get some dating help on this dress and what is this treatment to the skirt called? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure dress is heavy silk with a silk organza lining. Metal Conmatci locking black Zipper up the back, pleats at the waist for that hourglass shape, but I'm confused on the date of this.. the dress measures 41 inches from shoulder to hem and you can see it was let down so it used to only measure 40 inches. The treatment is really nice - it is done starting with the dress body and then the same material with lining has been used to create layers both in the front and the back. You can see it did not have a kickpleat when it was made but one was added when the hem was let done.

Looks 50s to me and smashing!! Great pics. It may have been custom tailored for a shorter woman, hence its seeming shorter than a 50s average length. The details all say 50s to me, shape, etc......love it! Ang
 
Thanks Ang, I just googled Conmatic Metal Zippers and the dress is 50's. The length is just so odd I remeasured twice just to be sure I did it right. Originally it does look like the dress was 40 inches in length. It does have a tag sewn inside but I think it probably was custom made for someone.
