I have an Alligator purse that I picked up and it is by a Company called Sterling USA - I have googled and can't find anything out about the company.. does anyone know them?

Here is the purse - it is 12 inc. x 7.5 inc., and has this decorative latch that is what I think to be Tigers Eye set in brass - is that a common stone for a bag like this?

And when is this from - the 40's, 50's, or ??? And what clues give the age away?

I was given a link to the Handbag Lady who has a Sterling advertisement dated 1961 so this is probably late 50's/early 60's.
 
I vote for late 50's early 60's cusper, certainly looks like a tiger's eye in the clasp, sterling gator bags are very collectable, well made & age very well, usually. I've had a few pass thru my hands, and they were all high end, as far as vintage gator goes. It shoud do very well!!! Love the clasp, it's somewhat unusual. Where will you be listing it??
