Can I have some help with this velvet 30s? dress.. thanks

First, I am pretty sure this is late 30's, velvet with "puff" sleeves, very cool trim, matching belt, buttons down the top back, snaps centered at the side - BUT - it is just over 39 inches in length from shoulder to hem and my question is do you think it has been shortened? Would it have been shortened during the war? ?????

It's a stunning dress. I would agree that it is from the 1930s and might well have been shortened at a later date, as it is more of an evening than a daytime dress with the (I believe that is a lace trim, correct?)

Here is the trim (has a minor flaw in it but that is the only thing wrong with the whole dress, well, other than I think that it was shortened)- Do you think it is still sellable even if it has been shortened?

we wore vintage in the 70's & 80's nearly every day, and alot of my friends hemmed killer vintage dresses

What a great dress! Yes to late 30s. It could have been shortened during the war, or possibly during the early 70s. Or maybe the original owner had very short legs!
