These are my favorite Platforms...prob is two little buttons have come off!! Can they be fixed? Where would I find new buttons? :puzzled:

I've always guessed they're from the 70's but my friend thinks they might be older. 40's? Are they worth fixing?
:violins:

note: They're Rempson brand....

This is the only thing I could find about Rempson when I did a search.

http://www.inq7.net/nwsbrk/2001/aug/30/nbk_7-1.htm

It was a shoe maker in the Phillipines until 2001.

My first gut is that these are much later than the 40s in style. Also, if the company originated in the Phillipines, it would not have existed til after WWII. (but of course it could have moved there).

Jonathan might know about it, but i don't know any more.

I would check with your local cobbler re: repairs. you would probably have to find suitable buttons on your own though. or replace them all.

Thanks I read that article too. I'm not sure we were getting shoes from the Phillipines as far back as WWII either.

Do you think it's worth trying to fix (replace) the buttons? ...I guess what I'm trying to figure out is would it cost a lot of $$$ for shoes that are not worth much?...(boy, do I sound cheap...LOl! )

If you love them, definitely worth looking into getting them fixed. I hava a pair that i bought in two colors and i wished i would have bought triplicates of i love them so much

that's what folks used to do in the old days...fix instead of getting new.

they still make nice shoes you can do that with if you are willing to pay the bucks for, but not most

They are 1970s. Like Chirs said -- take them to a shoe repairer and ask. Chances are it won't be too much, maybe $20.00 to get them repaired. You may have to have all six buttons changed so they match, but its worth a trip to the repairman if you like them that much.
