Can we start "your speciality link?"

Can we start \"your speciality link?\"

I am running into clients that need special items that I may not be fully knowledgeable about. Can we start a section or forum on (Speciality Vintage)?

I would love to see a direct link or directory, where we could find specific vintage sellers who specialize in a particular area. I know we all carry a variety and that several of the members know who sells what. But I think it might be a great resource for the newbies and or the general public. What a great way to give our fellow forum buddies referrals!!!

20s-30s, 50's, Rockabilly, 80s, vintage hats and so much more endless possibilities... I think this would be an awesome resource & opportunity to have on any web site.
Regards, D

Big project, but I am on board to help if this isn't already out there!!!

Hey - IF I had a specialty, I'd offer to help  I can give advice on hardy perennials and writing for a newspaper. My vintage clothing experience is all over the place and I bow to the other expert members for their assistance and knowledge.

i think this is a tremendous idea, as mentioned in the other post, it may be a bit of a monster to organize, but i have to say i would love to NOT have to slog through pages of sites offfering 70's and 80's vintage when i'm just looking for a(nother) cute 50's daydress (for example)

and again, MANY of us would have multiple "specialties", but it still would simplify the shopping experience, i think

definite possiblities, depends how complicated the beast becomes, but could be workable and another angle to offer at vfg...like the way you think Den..worth talking through anyhow..

I actually gave this some thought and here are some of my ideas. If you open this on your home page VFG it might draw other vintage experts who may not be current members but would like to become apart of the directory. (run-on sent. sorry)

Thus, being not only a great resource page but boosting membership if that is a current interest of the VFG.

1. As a member this is an (optional) directory page that you can decide if you want to be a part of.

The saleswoman in me thinks that it could also be a way for people who are not currently members to just pay a minimal fee to be apart of this directory, if they do not want to be members. Membership ultimately would be the way go as to stay in line with rules of conduct.

(You currently have a page with all members). This could be a directory page in itself.

2. It would be just a matter of compiling names (which can be done easily by having them send a completed form to an assigned email address as an attachment). It would specify their speciality and and how or when they can be contacted. (I have seen people charge for this service) so I don't know if that is the way to go. So perhaps, they can also just be listed with a buyers (caption) as a seller who has a great deal of knowledge in a particular era.

A brief and eye catching synopsis would need to be written. (Fine tuning writing help is also a plus here-amandainvermont).:bisou::USETHUMBUP:

More ideas in mind for another time... Just dreaming.
