Can you hand wash rayon?

I have this doll dress from the 40's and it rayon/taffeta. I was wondering if it could be hand washed or not.

Do you mean the entire dress is rayon taffeta?

This thread may be of interest: it seems some of our our experienced members think taffeta doesn't wash well.

rayon is iffy, depends upon how good a rayon it is. Taffeta however doesn't like to get wet, so I wouldn't suggest it.
