Can you help me find cufflinks to replace a stolen pair?

I've just received an email from a lovely Australian lady who bought her boyfriend a pair of cufflinks from me as a Christmas gift.

Apparently he adored them, but his house was broken into recently and they were stolen. She's asking me if I can find another similar pair to replace them.

Of course, I said I would try, and I wondered if anyone here on the VFG forum might be able to help too.

These are (were) the cufflinks:

They were made of silver, faced with 9ct gold, and aren't particularly unusual in style, as you can see (although very smart, if I do say so myself!) I dated them to the 30s/40s.

I don't have anything like them so I'm doing some online searches myself, but if anyone has something similar I'd be very grateful if you let me know.

Thanks in advance! :help:

Did they have a makers mark?

Nice cufflinks. I think we have a member here who deals exclusively in cufflinks. Maybe they will pop in.

Thanks Suzanne and Brenda!

I'm planning on sending her a list of links to cufflinks so she can chose for herself - I'm not really sure if they have to be gold, for example, maybe its more about the style and date - so do pass on any details to me!

Those cufflinks were marked "H.G & S" and "9CT Gold & Silver" - Henry Griffiths and Sons were renowned silversmiths originally from Birmingham, England.

Lets hope the cufflink specialist drops by!

I've asked for more details about what this lady is after, and she's told me that her and her boyfriend are keen lindy-hoppers so they want cufflinks that date from the 30s or 40s, her boyfriend actually prefers silver but he loved the 'not too bright' gold of the lost pair (the metal is not that important so it doesn't have to be precious), and the style and shape doesn't have to be exactly the same either.

The budget is about $75, although she will spend a bit more if they're 'perfect'!

I'd love to refer her to some VFG sellers, especially since a couple of the pairs I found online were sold by traders with rather erratic dating and pricing (I don't want to send her to anyone who is not completely reputable and reliable).

Any ideas? I'd love to help this lady and her fella out - she really is so nice!

I can't remember the name of the VFG member that sells ALL cuff links from his website. :duh: I don't think he's been a member too long but if anyone can recall his name, please post here. Perhaps Sarah can send him a U2U. :)

Thanks Louise, looks like Brenda's come up with the goods!

That site is amazing - I've never seen such a fabulous range of cufflinks. It makes ME want to start wearing them!

I will definitely send him a message to see if he has something suitable (he MUST have!), but I guess I could just refer my buyer to the site anyway and she can have fun browsing it. The great thing is that he is in Australia too.

I LOVE happy endings! Thank you so much!! :excited:

Thank you Brenda for referring Sarah my way - I will contact Sarah directly. I should be able to find something similar to the ones pictured.

Hi Danny!

Thanks I just got your email, which I will forward onto the buyer if that's ok with you.

I really appreciate the trouble you've taken!

I love(ed?) the links! I'm so sorry to hear about the theft! I wounder where Karma is? I have some 14K gold Ansens, but they aren't etched like the missing beauty's. I'm so sorry for your friends. They are oval and the tops are clean slates ready for engraving.

Thanks atticville! Could you send me a link to your cufflink listing (U2U perhaps)?

I'll pass it on to the buyer, because it doesn't hurt to have plenty of choice!
