can you help put a date on this dress?

Hi again, comepletely different topis. I'm guessing that this dress is 1950s due to the side metal zipper, huge full skirt - but I'm thinking is it earlier as the boat neck is more 1940s? Correct me if I'm wrong as I am still learning!

Can anyone help me out?

Also, I think that the main fabric is a crepe but not sure. It is very heavy and feels a bit like taffeta, but heavier...goregous velvet collar....original belt too. In tip top condition. I love it!

I would like to see a full-on frontal shot, but I'd say early 50s and it looks like a rayon to me, in a jacquard weave. It could be silk or some sort of blend, but without feeling it or doing a burn test, hard to tell.

I agree with the others, but wouldn't call that a boat neck, a boat neck is much wider on the shoulders.
