Can you identify this strange fur???

Hello!
I saw this fur coat at my friends vintage store and I had no idea what type of fur it was. I took pictures of it to show everyone here to see if anyone can identify it. It is not listed on the fur resource. I believe the coat is 30's/40's era although I'm not completely sure. Thanks for your help in advance!
Carrie

It does look like chinchilla, just a little older & in need of a cleaning/glazing to give it lustre & make the fur lay evenly again. No shedding or cracks? I'd take it to a furrier to be sure and spring to get it cleaned, my friend charges 35, its not TONS to do it....if it is chinchilla it should be worth doing it! Ang

Chinchilla, of course! I don't think I've ever seen a Chinchilla coat in person. I'll let her know to look into getting it cleaned up a bit. The fur does seem to be laying in odd directions which threw me off. Do you think the coat is 30's or more towards 50's?? It is in great shaped with no cracks that I saw. The lining is in good clean condition as well with no stains or holes.
Thanks bunches,
Carrie
