I have sold a few items recently from my ebay shop ( not vintage fashions) I will add so no conflick lol.

They have got a good item at a good price but not left any feed back

Is it they do not like the item,
or
People today are not too fussed about leaving feed back as they once did.

Does every customer leave feed back for you! or is it once they got the item they not bothered today

Definitely not all buyers leave feedback - They are probably happy with the item but can't be bothered - there's nothing really in it for them. I'm sure if they weren't happy you would hear about it!

I encourage buyers to leave feedback by saying something along the lines of, "Thank you for your purchase. Please get in touch if there are any problems and if all is well please leave positive feedback so I know it's been safely received". I say that both when I email them to say it's been posted, and put a little card in the package.

I find most of my buyers leave feedback, but definitely not all.

I agree people are just lazy about feedback. The ones that make me mad are the buyers that also sell, as they know the importance of positive feedback. I used to get very frustrated sending then more than one reminder, no I dont waist my time, and just enjoy the happy customers that let me know.

I'm sure that most of the time it's just that buyers don't have the time / energy to leave feedback. But to give a different perspective - the *very* few times I haven't left feedback, or that I've delayed giving feedback for a long time, it's usually because I'm not 100% happy, but I don't want to get into it with the seller.

If there's clearly a problem, that's different - I'll contact the seller and let them know and since I'm certain there's an issue, I'm braver about asking for a solution.

But when they charged just a little too much for "handling" (like, say, $6 on an item most sellers would have charged $2-3 or nothing), or the item is just a little dingier, or had a couple defects that weren't mentioned, and the description is just vague enough to cover them, or it took them a week to post it... there's just so much anxiety on my part to get into the discussion knowing that I'm making most them defensive or angry when I bring it up.

What I want to do in that situation is just give them the 4 stars in that area, instead of 5, without any awkward discussion or haggling about partial refunds, etc. But - that feels a bit cowardly on my part, since I know sellers are penalized for the 4 stars or less, and I know most sellers want to be notified before you do that. So - I've occasionally taken the path of least resistance and said nothing at all...

I buy a LOT - but I rarely leave feedback.

I KNOW that the FB system is broken - and the way it's set up now, it's a pain in the butt to do it. I'm SO far behind on FB now that it would take me an hour to catch up.

Sorry!

Really - this is ebay's problem. They created such a cumbersome system that it's not even worth USING.

Hi,

I also do not always leave feedback in a timely manner, usually about once a month all at once, so sometimes my feedback shows up quite late, and others may be doing the same. I agree with Kristine, the Ebay feedback system is a pain now, and they just added MORE to it! Also, please be aware that some buyers never leave feedback as they want to retain their privacy. Once they post feedback to a seller, their ID name as the buyer of that item is made public, and some folks need to maintain totally private buying. It is fairly common with dealers who buy on Ebay, high end private collectors, and people who buy things they just want to be private about. I have had many other bidders who used to use my feedback as a way to follow me and track what I was bidding on, as they were too lazy to search it out or know HOW to find the good stuff. So I buy private sometimes too and then may not leave feedback. Don't sweat it, as long as you don't get any negatives you're doing fine! Most buyers don't care if a seller does not have tons of feedbacks, some only care if they have a lot of negatives, and if some folks really REALLY want something they will bid regardless of your feedback (within reason) . Hope all is well by the way! B

I always leave FB for sellers as well as for buyers. I have a buying ID separate from my selling ID, so I'm not concerned about people finding out what I paid for something that I might later list somewhere else. As a seller, I know how frustrating it is when buyers, for example, write you and tell you how much they love what they got from you, then don't bother to leave feedback. I would hate for other sellers to feel as if they had been professional, responsive, and given great customer service, only to have it go unacknowledged. No wonder some sellers have probably figured it's not worth the extra care and time they take to make sure an item is properly folded, wrapped in tissue, and well packed, as well as being exactly as described--they probably feel as if their buyers don't care anyway.

While it may be too time consuming and cumbersome to rate a seller thoroughly, my understanding is that one can still just leave either positive, negative, or neutral FB without going to the trouble of doing the star-rating thing. That's still the same as it used to be, and only takes half a minute.

Hi,

I just wanted to add that I certainly agree that leaving positive feedback for a seller is the right thing to do and I do it is much as I can. My previous comments were more an answer to Pauline asking why some people do not leave feedback when Pauline knows they are satisfied with the transaction.

I also did not know that you can skip the 5 star program when you leave feedback. And now they want you to add "comments" and recommendations too.

When I do forget, and a seller sends me a reminder to leave them feedback, I do post feedback for them, but sometimes the feedback is positive, but as Jen said...I don't feel they merit 5 stars, and if I post 3-4 stars and positive comments, Ebay penalizes them for having less than "excellent" 5 star service which I think is unfair to the seller as so I would rather just skip the 5 star system altogether as it is better for the seller that way.

Barbara, I do so little buying or selling on eBay these days, I honestly can't say with 100% certainty that you can currently skip the stars. But I think so. Last time I bought something, which was only about 6 weeks ago, it seemed to me that I could have simply left a FB comment without doing the star rating. I'm going to guess that even if you can, eBay likely doesn't make it apparent.... I know for a fact that buyers in the past left positive FB for me but didn't bother to do the star rating thing.
