Cartier clothing?

Hello everyone!
My boyfriend found an incredible (albeit tiny!) jacket while thrifting today and said that while it's unlabeled, it has Cartier embroidered all throughout the lining. I had no idea that they ever made clothing! Can anyone tell me about what they designed - and when? It looks like an older piece, but with my uneducated eye, it's hard to tell if it's 60s or newer.

I'm waiting for him to take photos and will post them here soon :) In the interim, would appreciate any background or history about their clothing.

Thanks
Lisa

Wow...this coat is crazy. On my phone so can't post a link but found something interesting at poshgirlvintage. If u haven't seen the cartier dress listing she had you should check it out.

Again, totally crazy and awesome coat. Can't blv it was found thrifting.

It seems to me that this may have been custom made, possibly an entertainer's costume, from the 80s. I say this because I had a friend who used to make costumes for musicians, including Prince, and this reminds me of various wardrobe items, that I recall seeing on stage, back then. That snap at the top neck, those are readily available, and the-over-the-top manner, in which the spangles and trims are applied, seems rather show biz. I mean no disrespect. It is possible to find lining fabric with these motifs as well. I could be totally wrong, but that is my impression of this jacket.

Cartier did make clothing at some point.

Have a men's sportcoat that has a Cartier label in it. I havent photographed it yet and it isnt near as exciting as your jacket though.

A side note altough just as surprising to me, I have a Fabrege mens sport coat as well.

Who knew?

It is a wonderful jacket, but Joules and Mary are right - lining fabrics with designers names were widely available. I used to have a leather jacket with Fendi logo lining that was obviously not Fendi. Still, it's quite a fun piece!

I did see that cartier had uniform pieces for their employees that had their logo on the material. Is there any chance this is a special commission piece that cartier and another company made for someone or something special?

Just a thought of course. This piece is really interesting...would be cool to get a definitive answer. Have used valuemystuffnow.com with success...maybe worth the $7.00?
