REMINDER.... all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies tomorrow and you will start to receive sale calls..

DEPENDING ON YOUR CELL PHONE SERVICE AGREEMENT, YOU MAY BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS, EITHER IN LOST MINUTES OR PAY-PER-CALL FEES

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:
888-382-1222.
It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.. It takes about 20 seconds.

I wonder, however, why it is that my in-laws and mother all get LOTS of telemarking calls on their cell phones, while my DH and I do not?

Still -- it doesn't hurt to register ALL your phone numbers with the DoNotCall.gov list!

Yep, another Urban Legend in the makin'! But it's good to check as my last scare was that dogs can die eating sugar free Gum! Turned out to be true by snoopes!
 
As I understand it, your cell phone numbers could already be on lists. Most telemarketing firms have auto-dialers that start dialing an area code and then sequential phone numbers (ie: 202 111-0000, 202 111-0002, 202 111-0003 etc.) When you answer the phone the number is 'saved' as a real phone number and you are put on a list for call back, even if you hang up on them! If you have identi-call you should use it before picking up the phone so you know who is calling before the connection is made and your number is registered but most people only check to see who is calling on their cell phones, not their land lines. I can't remember why but for some reason when your phone goes an electronic answer the phone number isn't registered by telemarketers - it has something to do with electronic vs. voice recognition.

But even though this scare tactic email is a false/urban ledgend going around the email circuit for hours,days, months & years on end... the # for the Government is not. So if you register with the Gov. to take your # off of any public registrant, it will be registered with the Gov.. That gets with any and all #'s you register with them.
Question is, Why does the Gov. care if you get Spam Calls? Why does the "urban Legend" get passed via internet more than any other? Why Are we all giving and supplying our cell phone #'s on line to the Gov??

Looks like we are dealing with the old Double edge sword. Damned if you do, Damned if we don't scare you into doing it!
 
ps, most likely your in law's have subscriptions ,along with many Tv things... Please warn them not to do anything over the phone!! Mags, offers, Pay Bills. and so on.
They are out to get the seniors!! Tell Your parents!!!
This should be the warning going around!! Not the so called release of cell #'s.
PAY NOTHING OVER THE PHONE if you are a senior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell your Mamas! Hang up the phone if they get a call from anyone other than a friend!!
