Cello Playing Bee Brooch - ?Vintage

Hi everyone,

I love this brooch! A cello playing bumble bee (I thought it was a wasp at first). Perhaps a play on the Flight of the Bumble Bees as it is played on the cello. It does have weight to it. Sadly it isn't marked. I have to admit I'm not the best at putting a date on jewelry - do you think it is vintage? I feel it is....but am not sure. :) As well, would you consider the wings art glass rhinestones? They have gold flecks and an overall blue hue to them.

Thanks again!

Diane

wow! that is REALLY REALLY neat, Diane! another vote for ant, btw.

as for the settings, they look like 1950's confetti (some call them mica) sets; they were often made of lucite. on my screen it looks like gold flecks in a gorgeous red, no blue at all.

Thanks Beth, Carrie, and Mary!

The stones are overall a ruby red with a blue opalescent type hue. They are definitely glass so art glass it is :)

I'll be listing it on ebay hopefully later this evening.

Thanks again!

Diane

Diane - it almost might be worth double listing it in some kind of musical instruments category as well - as you know the female cellists out there would love that pin and probably wouldn't see it otherwise. On the other hand... we all love that pin.
