Chanel again

Just before I went on vacation, I bought another Chanel jacket because it was different from any that I have. It arrived while I was away.

When I examined it yesterday, I was surprised to see how different the trim is made from what I had assumed in the photo. It looks like it's a black chenille trim made by crocheting; then there are embroidery stitches in red on top of the black trim.

When I was in Phoenix several weeks ago, I saw another trim that appeared to be crocheted. My crochet skills are limited but I want to try duplicating both of these.

I cease to be amazed at the diversity of the Chanel trims.

I'm teaching Chanel and That Suit again in April so have to review my last outline to see which trim I can delete so I can add at least one of these.

Here is a detail of the trim.

Oh, dear, my detail is enormous. Well it's large enough to see the fabric weave and yarns clearly.

I bought the jacket from the original customer. She dated it early nineties. The black trim appears to be braided with multiple strands; then it was embroidered with yarn. The yarn was probably supplied by the fabric manufacturer and was one of the yarns used in the weave.

My guess is that it is a Linton fabric (made in the UK)
