Several weeks ago I purchased a Chanel suit at auction--sight unseen. It arrived this week. Based on its number, it's from the late seventies. It has a trim that looks like the selvage; other than that, I might have identified it as Chanel copy. But according to the archivist at Chanel, if it has a label, it's an original--that's a pie in the sky remark.
It isn't quilted and the buttons have none of the Chanel icons. It's a brown tweed with a little light blue. The lining is light blue.
