CHAPS RALPH LAUREN Vintage jacket...How Vintage??

Chaps, I believe was started in 1972. If you combine that with your union label, you can narrow down to mid 1970s (1972 - 1976).
 
I think this jacket is pretty solidly 70s, as noted above. I'm guessing it is more toward the early side of that timeframe, even though the teal-ish color looks more toward an 80-ish look. It is a great jacket!

With the combination of medium sized lapels and large pattern I would have said 1974-1975ish. Stylistically, you would have been laughed at on the street for wearing this by 1977. When oversized checks went out of fashion they REALLY went out of fashion. Herb Tarluck on WKRP in Cincinnati might have worn one like this in the late 70s, but he was a creepy salesman!
