I googled them and found some similar but not quite like this....this has a square piece set with what is likely garnets and MOP, center piece I may have tested as I can't decide if its glass or a diamond. Slides on chain as if a lariat of sorts.

Any idea on how old, or what its technically called? Thanks!

It's a victorian watch fob slide chain. Very pretty and you really should get the stones checked out, these usually have real stones, so yours would be a diamond, rubies or garnets and I think pearls unless they are moonstones, it's a little hard to tell from the photo on those.

Lovely piece!

Yeah, that lovely little square dealio is a slider.

A chatelaine has several, usually funcitonal, small objects attached to it -- keys, scissors, watch, etc. -- originally worn around the waist by the mistress of the house.

Thanks guys, and MC, thats what I thought....I actually have 3 right now (regular chatelaines) but this has the same hook and came from the same estate as 2 of my chats. So it confused me! I'll get it to a jeweler ASAP.....

Thanks guys!!!
