Check out this Paco Rabanne dress

Very cool! I love that look!

I have a Life magazine picture of a similar dress:

Geez, first a Poiret, then a Charles Worth, now this! I tell 'ya, when people need money, the good stuff comes out of the woodwork!

I love reading just those little blurbs about design and designers ~ a whole article is too many words for my addled little brain, but an interesting paragraph tends to stick with me :spin:

Has there ever been one on eBay?? Not in my memory anyway.

Audrey Hepburn worn a Rabanne link dress in Two for the Road, and she later said it was the most uncomfortable garment she had ever worn. She did however, look completely fab in it!

I believe this dress is made up from the kit that was available in the late 1980s or early 90s. They come up on eBay every so often. I have seen at least two of them before. You could buy them brand new in a box, as a kit. I thought it was the late 1980s but Deborah at Antiquedress had one and she said hers dated from 1996, I think she said... It was a sort of comeback collection for Rabanne, but they didn't sell well (I think they were a few hundred dollars brand new then) The big difference between these late release ones and the older 60s ones is that the new ones are made up with vents at the side to allow for freer movement, and they are also usually shorter than the original 1960s version, which were usually either long evening gowns, or just above the knee. Also, I believe the original 1960s ones were tagged with paper tags, not incised or impressed on the back of one of the discs. The metal was marked this way in the 60s, but not the plastic.

The last one of these, which sold on eBay three months ago (I think?) went for $2,200ish, if I remember correctly, and they also misidentified it as 1960s.
