Cheongsam: vintage or contemporary?

I know nothing about Asian garments. It took some time for me to simply find out that this type of dress is sometimes called a cheongsam. It is so well made. Fully lined, hand-beaded, hand-finished on the inside, likely silk. It has a YKK side metal zip and snaps that look like new. No tags whatsoever. If anyone can offer opinions and/or info sources, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thank you both. It really is most exquisitely made. And pricing ideas are gratefully accepted!

My first impression was 60s, even before I read the other responses.... so, it seems we're all in agreement on the dating! It's lovely!

I have no idea on pricing, myself. I have a 1940's cheongsam I haven't listed because I don't know what to price it at! So I'm sure not a good one to weigh in on that issue....

I agree that it looks 1960s in styling and beadwork but these are still being made to the same design and yours looks a bit shiny and new to me, to be fifty years old so I'm going to go against the grain and say contemporary!

Frankly, it IS in such excellent condition that it made me wonder if it WAS contemporary. What a dilemma! I wouldn't want to disappoint a buyer expecting vintage but then again, this is such a wonderful garment, it's hard to imagine someone being disappointed with it. And, of course, it MAY be vintage.... I'll just have to say POSSIBLY vintage, I suppose. FYI, I also just had it drycleaned and it really improved it.

FWIW, I find that the '60s ones usually have one shaped seam to form the bust, from the side down the front into a panel - yours unusually has three bust darts which suggests that it's more modern and also that it's for a very busty woman :)

If I were you, I'd say that it has '60s styling and the beadwork is similar to items from that time, but they're hard to date so you can't be completely sure.
