Chinese or Oriental Vintage Wedding Coat

Hello

We need some advice on a rather specific matter. We have acquired a lovely coat which we were told is a Chinese wedding coat for a man and was given to a lady as a gift around the early 1950's. We're not sure whether it was made at that time or earlier or whether it is indeed a mens wedding coat from China.
Anyway we are looking to sell it as it is not really inkeeping with the usual type of clothing we sell but can anyone advise us who or where would be the best place to approach for something like this.

Thanks in advance

Gosh, I'm around now but have no idea. I am sure someone will come along soon with a good answer. :)

If it is brocade...brocade is supposed to carry over to be popular for the fall again. There is also a lot of crossover appeal with asian traditional garments to folks that like vintage as there were periods that they were imported and elements were borrowed from them.

DO you have a photo?

Chris

If it's an antique embroidered coat, that could do well in the Asian=Chinese category, maybe double listed in Antique textiles. If it's newer, say 50s, try the Asian textiles area with a double in Vintage ladies 50s dresses

That's providing you want to go the ebay route.

I answered your query on the other board - but if that doesn't help, let me know as I know a couple of other dealers who are in Yorkshire who might be able to help. ;-)
