I know you specialize in purses, Chris and am hoping you can help with some keywords on this purse from the 60's.

It snaps to create a smaller version:

The handle is a tortise shell plastic with the word's "Lady's Pride" stamped at the bottom:

And the material is a silky smooth floral:

Is there a specific name for these convertible purses? And should I call it a tote or handbag in the title, too? I had a hard time locating another one....mainly coz I didn't know "what" to call it besides "60's purse". :BAGUSE:

Thanks for any assistance you....or anyone else.....can give.

Gail

convertible is the only thing i could think of - i don't know of a tecnhical term either (although i'm sure there's some vintage 'snap-o-matic' copyright name somewhere!)
from pretty to practical? i'm multitasking at the mo and am struggling with my own titles too.. :BAGUSE: will try again with that later!

Gail, though I think convertible best describes this (and I don't recall there being a technical term for these, either, and I am of that era), not sure using it in a title would give you enough room for describing its function. As I looked at it, the first thing that came into my mind was simply "handbag-to-tote purse." Vintage 60s floral handbag-to-tote purse; Vintage 60s handbag-to-tote purse, tortoise shell handle (don't know if that fits), etc. Since they can see it's floral in the photo, I might use the tortoise shell handle as a KW if you can, since that may not show up quite as well. JMHO!
