Incredible collection!

"The auction house brought in $262 million in its first night of the three day sale of Yves Saint Laurent and partner Pierre Berge's 733-piece art collection."

One Matisse sold for over 45 million
and a Mondrian for 27 million and change!

Unbelievable :jawdrop:

ONE CHAIR goes for 28 MILLION!

THE 'DRAGONS' ARMCHAIR, CIRCA 1917-1919
In the form of unfurling petals, upholstered in brown leather, the frame in sculpted wood, lacquered brownish orange and silver and modelled as the serpentine, intertwined bodies of two dragons, their eyes in black lacquer on a white ground, their bodies decorated in low relief with stylised clouds.

Granted its quite a chair! Who are these people with all this money?

Speaking of YSL, I'm sure that many of you are aware there is a YSL exhibit at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, through April 5th. This is the only U.S. venue. I am going to see it next month the day before the Vintage Clothing Expo. I'm really looking forward to both!

For those of you within driving range, here's a link about it:

Thanks for posting the link, Linn. There's a 1-1/2 hour talk that was given and I've just listened to 20 minutes of it - fascintating.

I'd love to see the exhibit and I look forward to reports when you have seen it. I did get to see the exhibit here in Montreal last year and I dreamed YSL for weeks. You'll love it, I'm sure.
