Cleaning and storing

Hi! What is the best way to clean vintage leather shoes (some are very dry)?

Also, how should I store the shoes and items like vintage corsets, stockings, etc? Should I hang them, put them in boxes, put them on a dress form out in the open? I'm clueless.

Thank you so much!

Jennifer

HI Jennifer,
Great question LOL :)

When I clean vintage leather shoes I invest in a specialist leather shoe cleaner it is a cream and comes in a little glass jar it is great you put it on like polish and then rub it off and I've never had any problems. Then to polish them I use the same thing but obviously it is the matching shoe colour it will also help remoisturise the leather which obviously dries and cracks over time.

With storing clothing I use acid free tissue paper and loosly fold them or lay them flat if possible. Failing that a vacuum storage bag that you hoover all the air out of then put it out of direct sunlight to prevent the lovely shunshine causing fading.

If I'm doing something wrong then I would apprecaite any corrections :D

Bye for now Sharon xx
