Coat finally sold! Timing or the new male model???

Whatever it was, I'm happeeeeee...

I had an 80s Aquascutum in my still "unofficial" store for a month at $129.99 US and it didn't move. I asked my son to model some things and I redid the pics of the coat and put it up for auction with a higher reserve et voila, it sold!!!

So whaddaythink - time of year or new male model???

I think part of it is more people saw it at auction, the gallery photo was very eyecatching for people to want to click on it, and people are scrounging for winter coats. Men are more in denial i find than the women in preparing ahead to buy a winter coat while the weather is still hot. Not all, but enough of them

Hi Deb,

I think the live model is certainly a plus! He models the clothes well and people can identify more with the live model.

I am finding that on ebay more and more people are using live models and are actully selling articles that just aren't that terrific for at times fairly good amounts of money. I realize there is a trend for 70s and 80s stuff right now and although some of the clothes from those decades were interesting a lot of it simply was not that great quality wise.

So I think your son modeling won't hurt a bit! Ask his girlfriend to model the ladies garments and see what happens to your sales.

Well, I'm all for the live model! LOL

Remember the "Disco Jumpsuit a la Charlie's Angels"? I have no doubt that if I hadn't used a live model I would never have achieved $31.00 for it at auction on eBay!

I don't have a mannequin and I JUST found a vintage dress form at a local antiques shop today for $45 but I passed it up and now I'm kicking myself. I think I'll be back there when the doors open tomorrow to get it! It needs some work but I think that I can fix 'er up enough so that I can use it for my items!
