Ok, I know this is another fairly new dress, but I'd appreciate your help on this as well, as I want to sell it too. I love it, but to be honest, it's just too tight in the skirt, I'd better stop kidding myself that I'll ever wear it (I can get into it, but then I can barely move or sit down)...

I think this wasn't quite a cheap one when it was new.

It's a cocktail dress allright, but what words would you use in the description or a title? The skirt isn't really a bubble skirt, but it's sort of made in the same way, and I can't think of a way of describing it...

Also, I'm not sure about dating it. 90s? Or could it be 80s already? Sort of a cusper maybe?

The label is "Isabelle Allard" - anyone ever hear of her before? My googling turned up nothing much.

Also, the skirt has the slightest bit of discoloration, but you can only see it when looking at it closely, and it doesn't show on the photos. I will just mention it.

The bigger problem is this rip, right underneath the sash of the bow:

It's already been fixed, but I guess it's just been too tight for everybody who tried to wear it... I'll just leave it as it is I think? Anyone who can sew a bit can sort this out again, and it is usually hidden underneath the sash.

I think you should ask at least $250 for it.

Wow - I've never tried to sell anything that high... :jawdrop:
even with the damage?

I guess I'll put it on ebay. I do have an Etsy shop, but so far only for my collage art. I could branch out I guess, but wouldn't this dress be too new for Etsy? I'm not quite sure about their rules right now.

Its the perfect time to sell it. I really like it. Not for the faint of heart. I see it with a pair of lace tights and high platform shoes.

As far as I know, an item has to be 1980s or older to be able to list it on Etsy.com. It's a fantastic dress though!

Joules, I had been wondering that there was no fabric content written on the label (I admit this is also the first time I saw one like this, where they write the content on by hand). So I went back and had a closer look, maybe it was faded. Only I hadn't looked at the backside of the label :jawdrop::

Well, that explains the high original prices nicely. That definitely was an expensive dress. I think they oversaw that label at the place where I bought it - I didn't pay much for this dress, but I did see that it was a good quality dress.

I'll have to have someone take a photo of me in it then, that will of course add effect on the listing. I don't have a model except for my dummy... :D

Karin, I agree that it's quite special and if you point out that the tear can't be seen as it's covered by the sash, it shouldn't penalise you too much.

I would date it as pretty much right on 1990 as I had a similar dress then and I loved that it didn't have that big shoulder line that was so popular in the '80s.
