colour check!

I'd have called that 'lipstick' red, at least that's how it looks over here. Either that or scarlet, can't quite tell how much pink is in there!

It's practically impossible to go by what other people are seeing, too, because of personal monitor settings. Some people like more brightness and contrast while others prefer to turn down those settings and the results for everyone are different.

I sometimes use a disclaimer in my auction listings on eBay: "Actual colors may vary from image viewed on each individual's monitor due to personal monitor preference settings. We do not guarantee colors for this reason." By using this I can avoid issues if a customer is not happy with the color and I'm certain to describe the color as best I can in the description.

I do see a lipstick red, though!

ok. I know you guys ended this thread awhile ago but I'm playing catch-up and reading all the ones I missed.

I was having so much trouble photographing some colors that I went to a paint store for paint chips. They gave me great descriptive names for colors. "Autumn Prarie Grass" 'Spice Berry' 'iced cranberry' ....jeez i could go on forever! (...fell in love with some of those colour names!!!) Anyway, I figured I could use it to give someone an exact color match if they needed it. "This dress matches Berhs paint chip number 345, burnt coffee" or something like that.

I thought I was on to something ....problem is every country has different paint brands/chips & names. It wouldn't do a thing to help international buyers.

If anyone could tweak this idea to make it work universally let me know!

PS. It's still a great way to come up with color names. "This dress's colour reminds me of spring corn husks" LOL! http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/public/images/smilies/USE.gif
