Confirmation of dates on two coats

I want to make sure that these are both indeed 1950s pieces. The neck line on the black has pleating and fullness like you see in the 20s-30s, but the 20s was in trend again in the 50s. It has thinner metallic thread leaves and is silk I believe... The tag has a custom older look which has me uncertain? The suede coat is very soft, has suede covered buttons and a metal zip in lining of sheep wool like fabric and green lining under that so that you can take the wool thing out. No tag in the suede coat. I wanted to be 100% certain it is not earlier. Thanks for any feedback!

New note found the universal tailoring company's 1921 sample book online here-http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/375738. Not the same one-but cool anyway. They were working out of Chicago from at least then until the 60s. Coats always give me a little more pause. I think this label I have was Japanese and they seem very active in the 50s-60s. So I am at least happy to see I'm okay on my original thoughts no earlier.

Hi Sarara,

I won't generally respond to more than one piece in an enquiry, but yours are simple so I'll make an exception.

The evening coat is perhaps late '50s but more likely early '60s I think and the suede jacket is '60s. If you have a shot of the lining it would help. I haven't seen these in the '50s but it may be that someone who knows more about them will come along.

Here are some lining and detail images for everyone. Thanks! I think I am safe listing the silk coat as late 50s early 60s. Again, I am still not a 100% on the suede....

Thanks, the suede coat is throwing me because on it has a shorter boxier look. It is a women's S or a small M. The 50s-60s silk coat does have the best collar that is this deco inspired rounded style that could be worn up. I would love to have seen the dress. Lately, I have been lucky and found some sets but alas this was all alone....

Hi,

I also agree with 60s on the suede jacket. I have several extremely similar 1960s jackets in my collection, and recall these being popular in the early to mid 1960s, most were lambs suede or kid suede, buttery soft, with those suede covered buttons or hard leather buttons, and had the same zip out linings on most of them also. My older sisters both had them in the mid 60s, and their boyfriends wore a similar style too.

I think the evening coat is early 1960's. The sleeve length, the hem length and the boxy cut look more 60s to me, possibly very very late 50's, say 1959.

I especially love the suede jacket, it is a classic.
