I purchased 5 items at the estate of a woman who is 89. She said they were from her Great Grandmother (I even got a picture of her!) . It is so rare to get stories along with the clothes..so I was beyond excited to get any information on this woman. They were her "mourning clothes" she wore from the death of her husband until her death. She only had three of these "mourning" outfits that she rotated.
There is: A Linen/Cotton Slip (hook and eye closures and a pocket?!)
A Sheer Net Skirt with satin Ribbon Loops
A Brocade Jacket with Lace Collar and Boning
A Black Beaded Puff Sleeve Jacket with interior vest and Boning

I figured backward (and did some research) and thought they would be from the 1870's or so.
What say You? :)

(I have more pictures if you need...I just didn't want to overload the first entry!)

Thanks for any info you have!

-Tina

Thanks for the reply Mary Jane!
There is a few small holes in the jacket and skirt and some underarm stains...but other that that they are in really good condition.
I was able to purchase her brassiere too....just two pieces of exquisite lace with satin ribbons that button under the bust (le sigh).

The black jacket is 1890s -early 90s I think, but it might be late 90s - It was not worn with that skirt, which is c. 1908ish (it would have had a skirt of the same material. The skirt might have had a matching top, but it also could be worn with a white lace blouse. The brown silk top is 70s - maybe 1877ish and definately had a matching skirt at one time.

Thank you Nicole, Jonathan and Lucy!
Jonathan, it is funny you say the skirt may have been worn with a lace top. One did come with the set...but I saw the label and assumed it was from the 50's. Here are the pictures of it.
I have also included the bra and the picture of the woman for Laura's inquiring mind:)
Thanks again!

The blouse is 1950s, but the Edwardian version of that blouse would have been perfect with it. Your photography is good quality by the way - very clear.

Thanks for the compliment on my photography (blushing) and the confirmation on the blouse. Can you tell how old the bralette is?
Just one more question....should I repair the holes on the jacket (there are two about dime sized) or leave for the buyer/collector to get professionally done?
