confounded on dating this dress....

This is a Jonathan Logan dress, not gonna be pricey at all when listed, but it's a nice winter day dress (though with its sexy fit, it could go work to dinner date). It's older, when their stuff was high quality and chic (not their trendy junior styles), but I am lost on dating it 'cuz the style is pretty classic--very simple, semi-fitted (no seamed waist, but slightly shaped and meant to fit very snugly) with self tie belt and buttons on top. The label looks old, but their typeface didn't change much, if at all, over the years. Fabric is a nice thick wool or wool-blend knit. Topstitched collar. I'm thinking 60s, but later? earlier? I've seen this fabric type used a lot in the late 50s and early 60s, less into the late 60s and early 70s. Anyone can pin it down for me, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Melody! Yes, the collar is one clue I had that it would not be extremely late into the 60s--then it would be bigger! The buttons are a textured goldtone metallic-look plastic crimped onto a metal button base--which, if I remember correctly from my sewing days, is an older-style construction, no? Belt is flat, and dress has actually been let down. My manni is very, very tall (almost 6'), so the dress would have probably originally been knee-skimming length on a woman of average height.

It really does have an "older" feel to it, but the style is making it hard for me to pinpoint. So, you think maybe 1960 to 63, 64-ish?
