Confused about the dates on these vintage shoes

Found these two pairs of lovely shoes the other day but their date is stumping me!

The first pair of Ferragamos (they nearly me me too, ack!!).

They look to be some kind of reptile skin, looks like snake?

The heels and peep toes remind me of 1940's shoes but the narrow straps at the side make me think 70's as I remember my mum and aunts wearing narrow strapped shoes in the late 70's and early 80's. The insides are lined in that beige colored leather though that you often see on pre 1950s shoes though.

Are these 40's revival made in the 70's or true 1940's? The shoe size and model number is written by hand in black ink on the inside straps of each shoe. Fortnum and Mason is stamped in gold on the sole of one shoe and Ferragamo in the other. Made in Italy is embossed on the bottom of each shoe.

The second pair *I think* I've dated them to early- mid 1950's but the rounded toe makes me think late 40's?

You-know-who can tell you exactly when they were made, but I'm curious about the Ferragamo label. Does it read "Creations" or "Salvatore" in the upper right of the logo?

This is the older, more deco-y font, so my guess is older rather than newer, just based on that. Look at the label resource to see the difference in the font. My thinking is that the wording changed from "creations" to "salvatore" sometime in the 1950s.

my guess is that they are both forties, the tan pair the earlier, the sandal style later...

The beige shoes are mid 50s -- that oval shaped toe is the between period from the round baby dolls to the pointed toe, so c. 1954 - 1957ish. The Ferragamos are probably the same period. His shoes are always a little off from the mainstream styles.

It says Creations on it, I didn't know that they changed it!:BAGUSE: Do you need a photo of the stamp Lizzie? Let me know and I will take a better one.

Thanks guys for the help and dates on them!

I agree with sara on the dates

I'm no expert but I think that the ferragammos are lizard skin because the scales are smaller and the skin seems smoother

No, I already have it. It's great seeing this with the date because it will help narrow down when the label changed!
