Hello all... been a LONG time... been sick all around lol.... butttttt...

im back and ready start listing lol.. But I have a lady that wants me to sell for her.

First and foremost am I allowed to discuss this type of topic? I hope so.... sorry if not....

What do you or would yall charge as fees?
do you do flat rate or percentage or depends?
I was thinking 10-15% comission with a minimum of $5 to list and a max of $25 on the comission... Im not out to rip anyone off..... also with the understanding that the cosigner pays all ebay and paypay fees?

does that sound fair to yall?

Thanks for the advice...:cheer:

YOU will be ripped off in that instance - unless it's all truly high dollar items.

I never do commission for less than 50%. Even most B&M consignment stores take 60% now!!
It's simply not worth it for less than 50% - it's YOUR time, YOUR good name.

But in the end what matters is what YOU are comfortable with.

wow thank you,,,, so with the 50% do you charge the seller your fees or do you cover that , and that is why the comission is so much

Well -- I dont' sell online anymore, so I'm only speaking of my B&M consignments (which I rarely do). However, the last few times I did consignment items online, it was 50% after the fees.
BUT -- I had so much darn stock of my own that it simply wasn't worth it to me to sell someone else's junk when I would make less money on it than if I just sold my own!
If you are not as swamped with merchandise as I was, maybe this wouldn't work for you.
In addition - I only took on consignment items that I felt would sell for at least $50 but preferably over $100.

I only take items for consignment that I would be listing for over $100 start (if on ebay), and I take 40% AFTER the fees are paid from the transactions (ebay and PPal). I pay the client after feedback is received, or a reasonable time has past with confirmation of delivery made.

I will not dilk around with doing listings that would bring less than that, because I have plenty of stuff to do. If it's not worth that much, but is of value, I will offer cash for outright purchase.

The trouble now is that I do almost exclusively my own website. This means I have dozens and dozens of items listed that wait for a sale. Most LOL's (little old ladies) are not willing to wait that long for the transaction.
Sometimes I hold things for a year or two in storage, especially if it is not currently in vogue, is similar to another dress on the site, or is out of season....or I just flat didn't get to it. Buying outright means I'm not pissing off anyone other than my husband by holding the item.

Remember, you will work as hard to list a $20 dress as you would a $500 dress, so plan your time accordingly.

I have a b&m consignment clothing store for contemporary and vintage. The deal is 50/50 split, and if I sell it online, it's 50/50 after the fees are paid. Even so, I don't spend the extra time to sell consigned pieces online unless I'm fairly certain they will sell for over $100. All the other consignment stores in my area keep 60%.

Hi,
Don't know if I'm a good example, but I've been selling for other people for 3 years, only one's I know well or are refered to me, the whole trick is what do they want to sell. Look at it first, research if you need to, for what the item has sold for in the past or if it's even worth it. God know's I'm not an expert on anything, but the information is out there. I started as a hobby to pay for my hot rod parts, now it's full time. So, I pay the client 70% of the total sale minus shipping, I put between 7 and 20% in my pocket after fees. Most people won't take the 20 dollar items because the profit margin is less, but it goes back to what the person has and how many items. For me, it's worth the time, those smaller sales add up fast and people are happy they got rid of everything, then they tell the next person. Without sounding up-idy, last year I brought in well over 6 figures, which aint bad for a home hobby.
Now, if you have a storefront or website to control, it is time consuming and my method wouldn't work, you'd have to take more. Quite honestly, if mailing or answering questions a few hours a day is the hardest I work, while sitting in my underware, I'm Ok with it.
