Corset Dating help please

Hello :)

So, I have a couple corsets and I'm not familiar with dating them unfortunately.

The first one I thought was Victorian (oops!) and turns out after researching the NRA tag it must be made during those years? I find it really interesting that a lot of the lingerie during the 30's was that soft peachy color. Does anyone know the story behind why this color was so prominent then?

The second one is made by Rengo and I'm not sure about the dating on this. Maybe 60s? I really have no idea on this one.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

I think the peach colour was preferred because it was a skin tone and did not show through a slip and dress the way a white or black undergarment would (unless of course you were black... but the fashion industry didn't consider that part of the market then). If the top one has the NRA tag with the blue eagle, then it has to date from 1933 to 1935 - you can't get more specific than that!

The pink full body corselette looks postwar but when I don't know - they are still in the catalogues into the 70s! This one looks 50s/60s to me, but there are better lingerie people around than me...

Boned girdles were a must for a lot of ladies in the 1930s with the clingy bias cut and even the crepes that were cut in the straight but still clung to the hips.

The second one - could be 50s, I bet Lei will know.

Thanks! I never thought about how the peach would match skin tones - makes sense! (And kind of crazy how darker skin wasn't part of the fashion target audience).

I'm going to go with the 60's I think on the 2nd one - I'll update if anyone has any further advice. :)
