Corset Talk coming soon!

Just got the 2007 What's On Guide to Leicestershire today and saw that on May 1, 2007 that there will be a talk on corsets at the Wigston library. Here is the info that's in the book:

A Tight Fit
-Wigston Library (here is the link to the library website so you know where it is).
-Tuesday 1 May, 10:30 am- 11:30 am.
-A tight fit is a fascinating talk on the Symington collection and a chance to talk about corsets!
-Admission: FREE!
-Contact: 0116 288 2985

That's all I know about it but I will be seeing Philip Warren on at the beginning of February as I am going to see the Symington Collection at the museum stores so I will see if he knows anything else about the talk as he is the curator of the corset collection. I'll see if people can bring examples from their own collections too.
I'm definitely going to wear a corset that day and it's really handy as it's right near my son's school so I can go straight after dropping him off! :D

Will post a reminder of the event closer to the date as well and post anymore info that I get about it.

I'm medicated, so forgive me, but when I saw the title, all I could think of was "I cannn'tt breathhhhh........" thud.

Sounds interesting, though, as it is such a part of fashion history.

Just bumping this thread up as the corset talk is TOMORROW! I'm going and plan on bringing some choice examples from my collection to show off! Gonna wear my Suzy Perette with my 22" corset :D

take some pics please!
I am new to this board and new to corsets too. I found 4 new but very well made corsets by Versital Fashions at a flea market (got them all for $20 and they retail for 400-600) and instantly fell in love with them. I have been enjoying your corset site too!
Do you train your waist? I have a friend who models for Versital Fashions and while she IS thin, she gets her corsetted waist to like 15" ACK! My corsetted waist is the same as my waist in a tight dress...oh well, the training seems like far too much suffering for fashion!

LOL, I'm not giving the talk but Philip Warren said that I could bring corsets along from my collection as he's not bringing any (I think he is doing a slide show). Will take pix if I can but it's in the library so I don't know if I will be able to.

I do waist train, I wear my corset everyday (not for sleeping in though). I have to wear it everyday anyways as I wouldn't be able to work at the stable or ride if I didn't due to the crappy discs in my lower back (I made the VERY bad mistake the other day of not wearing my corset while mucking out- now I'm paying the price :( ). My stable/riding corset is only 24" though (it's too big now), I need to get Lace Embrace to make me a smaller one as I don't want to ruin my 22" one that I wear with my vintage.

Those corsets you found at the flea market were an absolute BARGAIN! I would have bought those if I came across them too!:headbang:

I did not realize you are a waist trainer Lei, Just thought you were a huge and dedicated enthusiast, The dedication that it must take, I presume then that you could go down to a even smaller waist than 22" for a very shorter time.

No, can't do smaller than 22" just yet although I've not tried (don't have a smaller corset than 22" anyways to see). The smallest I can get in the 22" corset is 24 1/2" but that is only for a short period of time. 25" is comfy though at the moment.
