Could this men's jacket be late 60s?

Could this men\'s jacket be late 60s?

Well, I know it's made of Camel hair:BAGUSE: (thank goodness for labels) but now I'm second guessing myself on my 70s dating because of the wider collar. What say you?

Thanks!

60s jackets had narrow lapels. I agree it looks more 70s. In fact it could be 50s and wide lapels were vogue as was camel hair.

Ride em cowboy! Thanks, Linda. My confusion stemmed from the 60s plaid overcoat with wide collar - different, but wide. Why oh why did I not buy Lizzie's book!!!

Definitely early 70s...I don't know why I am thinking Norfolk jacket...it is kind of a Norfolk, the back is definitely cut that way...I guess a pseudo!

A man's sports jacket with a tailored collar, one or two box pleats down the front and back and a self belt that laces under or over the pleats at the waistline. Named after Norfolk County, England, the Norfolk jacket was originally paired with short baggy breeches and worn by royalty who hunted on nearby grounds in the 1880s. Cyclists adopted the comfortable style soon after, and eventually the Norfolk jacket became an 1890s icon of casual country living. Today, the style is sometimes translated for sportswear.

Just in agreement - my Grandad favours the 70s version of the Norfolk jacket (pretty stylish for one nearing 90 methinks..and in vintage too as i tell him!) and when I saw him yesterday he was sporting one with same cut at the back.

Deborah -- I thought of Norfolk also. It was revived in the latter 30s into early 40s. Can't you just visualize Errol Flynn in that jacket with his back to us:hiya:

Thanks ladies! I just tried to go in and add "Norfolk detailing" in the body of the description, but ebay is finicky right now and is not giving me an option to edit that part. Will try again later. Good news is, I have a bid! I started out low as I noticed other camel hair coats were not doing very well, except those by Brooks (if my memory serves me).

Thanks, Harriet!!

Still can't get in to add the Norfolk bit and by the time ebay responds the bidding will be over! Two of the sales I have up are like that, but the rest are fine - go figrrrrrrrrrr.
