can anybody help me describe/identify/date a vintage cocktail ? cumberband ? dress ?
this has a scoop neck, deep v back, cumberland style waist, a gorgeous gow detail on the back made of a silk? fabric. the dress has a metal zipper. and 2 tags. There is an embroidered label that says" A Jane Parker Junior, Reg. U.S. Pat office". the other tag is a reinforced paper type tag which says "order no. 2731. and style number 11.

i haven't figured out how to add more than one attachment..i'll add another post with a photo of the label.

thanks so much !!

This may make it a bit easier to view. The back reminds me of the style that trainee geishas wear, with the flap of fabric over the back. Can we possibly see a pic of the front of the dress? it's probably 60's but another photo may help.

That is a really lovely dress. I would say mid to late 50's. What fabric is it? It is similar to the "swoop" style of that same era, with the empire line cumerbund.

I would say late 50s. It really is lovely how the vibrant
colours of the cumberbund -quasi obi waist makes the dress
so dramatic.

thanks ! i believe it is probably a lightweight wool.. there are no fabric tags. the floral fabric seems like silk - both the drss and scarf are lined in what seems to be an acetate or rayon.

What a dramatic waistline treatment!

I agree with a late '50s dating on it.

This dress might do better for you if you can wait until late summer/early fall to sell it (assuming you're looking at the eBay market, that is).
