Curious about these trousers...

I got these ladies trousers at a vintage sale and I'm very curious about them. They are hand made / tailored with no labels and the fabric is very thick & wool like. The style is high waist with pleats into the waistband, the fit relaxed but taper slightly towards the ankle which end in a turn up cuff. Overall they seem quite old to me based on stitching, fabric, buttons etc but the zip is more modern, ie. Not metal....but could have possibly been replaced? Any ideas on dating? I'm honestly a bit stumped on this one...

Nice trousers, Missaleecat. I think they're late '70s, "Annie Hall" style pants. Menswear fashions had a real moment for women at that time and the colour palette (and button) rings true too. Home made as you said, quite nicely made, they're influenced by '30s-40s styles like a lot of '70s.

I'm glad Nicole felt the 70's vibe because all I could recognise were those layered plastic buttons, which I've only seen on a 70's coat before. That and tweed was a popular choice for a lot of 70's tailored clothing.
