I have long associated pea coat as being tight, short, double-breasted, usually uniform navy blue and in a duffle-like or boiled wool material. And a classic would have buttons with an anchor.
Ebay sellers appear to use the term loosely: anywhere from single-breasted to long to multi-coloured to lighter fabrics etc. etc.
Words evolve and change meaning; so is that what has happened to pea coat? How would you define pea coat today? And would this coat fall into today's pea coat catagory?
Many thanks!!!
