cutwork dress - what colour slip to wear underneath?

sorry, no pics of this right this second but i thought i'd post and add them later on... dove grey/blue 1940's swing skirted dress with floral openwork all over the neckline/shoulders and bottom foot or so of the skirt. the openwork is edged in black.

definitely needs a slip, but what colour would have been worn underneath and openwork dress originally? nude? or is it anything goes? BRB with pics (she says..when i've dealt with tea!)....:)

Gosh, that is a hard one. My first thought was a pale lilac or pink one.

Can't wait to see the dress!

RED.

But like everyone else, I'm waiting for pics to make my final decision.

it's not perfect (elastic missing from one little side section at waist, also shoulders have been crudely repaired at seam but could be re-done quite easily) but i like it! so now you can actually see it what colour slip - or slips! - do i buy?

sorry it's a little big for the mannequinand i couldn't find any clips. just preliminary pics!

Oh very pretty, Harriet!

Did you photoshop the cut outs to be in black? if that is the case i think black would look great. But i can see where pink would be a nice contrast.

Stunning!

If you are selling this, I'd be tempted to just use the above images - and include a couple showing a section of the cutwork on different colour backings, just to demonstrate the effect.

thanks everyone! i got a black cover for my tailors dummy so i can just shoot things against the black background without having to faff about too much (or at least too much more than i usually have to!) with photoshop.
i was going to just include everyone suggestions ion the description but good idea margaret, i shall get some close ups with different colours underneath.

now to actually do some work then...

Still think pink would look great! I also agree that you don't have to take full shots with different colors underneath. Just take closeups to give an idea. Nice dress!
