I'm preparing some vintage lots for eBay to clear out an excess of stock. This is one of my wounded baby birds, and I can't escape the feeling that it might be something special.
I really like the asymmetry of the skirt points.
It's beautifully made, with petersham waistband, weights to hold the inner dress in place, the main dress is finely woven wool with outer skirt of lightweight silk taffeta lined in organza.
And it's a large with 32" waist! Hips were taken in about 4" along the sideseams by a previous owner, and I'm thinking that might be when a label was eliminated. There's a cluster of small holes near the skirt hem on the right side, which is why it was in the "for lots" pile.
Needle in a haystack, I know, but has anyone seen a design like this before? Is there likely to be a market for it sold individually in damaged condition?
