Damari: What is it??

I recently bought a mixed lot of jewelery listed as Bakelite/Catalin on eBay.
Most of it didn't test positive for Bakelite, but one thing which did was a necklace described as Damari Beads.

I've tried google, but I can't find any information about what Damari actually is.
And today a bangle has been listed on eBay as Damari. Same colour as my beads.

Just wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the topic?

Keri, look up damari prayer beads online as that will give you quite a bit of information.

I believe that the word "damari" pertains to the spiral like marbling inside the beading.

I added marbling to my search and it came up with 'Damari (Marbling)' in the text of quite a few listings.
Definitely more than I had come up with searching just for Bakelite and Damari.
