Date for dress? Kenwall Franctional Fitting'

Hi all,

Can anyone please give me any information about this dress? I am guessing it is 1970s? The lable reads 'Kenwall Fractional Fitting, 12 1/2, To Fit Bust 85cm, Waist 70cm, Hips 95cm'.
It has a really cute neckline that ties at the front, and has a matching belt with a buckle made of the same material. It was bought in Australia.
Thanks in advance!

It doesn't have material content does it?
I would say it's 60's, I have a dress in almost the same cut with that collar, but in a more recognisable 60's floral print.

I've got some Kenwalls!

Agree with '70s: centimetres didn't appear on Australian labels until the '70s, and although my dresses are from the '50s and '60s, yours also has a post-late '60s size (before then it would have been called SW). The style is an older one though, so I think your dress was made for an older lady. The colour scheme and design is also very '70s: early to mid '70s I'd say.

Hi Pinkcoke, no it doesn't have material content - it has no other lables at all, no care instructions or anything, which I thought was strange. No evidence of one being cut out either. I love this dress, it's a really flattering shape.

Thanks Nicole. Was Kenwall the name of a shop? I was really attracted to the colour scheme when I saw this dress. It had a cardboard lable pinned to it which read, "All the colours of the tupperware rainbow", which I thought was brilliant. It fits me so well, and was only $15 too!

"All the colours of the tupperware rainbow"

Love that! Perhaps even tupperware was all about the brown and orange in the '70s too?

I think that Kenwall was the name of a clothing manufacturer; actually, it looks like they existed until recently with an address in Brookvale Sydney - their trademark only expired in 2006.
