Date for this cutie pie plaid wrap dress??

My feeling is 40's on this one?? But is the fabric right? From the estate of an avid home sewer. This is a little home tailored wrap dress. Big front pocket. Piping along the collar and pocket.

Date anyone??

Cheery and bright summery plaid Bonnie! If it is 40s, it would be wartime I would think due to the shorter
length. Like Jonathan though, I can't tell if it is 40s, or
70s.....it's home sewn? Did you test the fabric to see if
it is 100% cotton? Cotton/poly permapress blends were
popular in the 70s, so if it tests as straight cotton, I think it
would point to the earlier date.

The piping also seems like a 40s touch to me.

Thanks for a bit of clarification Sue and Jonathan. The lady was born in the 1920's so I doubt she would be wearing this style of dress in the 1970's. I saw some of her later years clothing and let's just say she gained a few pounds! I know her daughter died in 1972, so it would not have been hers in the 70's either.

So I reckon I'd be safe to say 40's then!!

that kind of adds up then... I wonder if it was a full length wrapper and she chopped it? The colours are SO bright it fools you into thinking it must be newer.

I know what you mean about the colors. I was sort of wondering if this textile was 1940-like with the brightness. But, I doubt it was even worn and washed.

All of the stuff at this estate was in really nice condition. The last estate buy was cigarettes and b.o. all the way!! So, the quality of this lot is wonderful in comparison.

that is really cute.

I just got a catalog from the 30's the other day and was surprised to see some bold plaid coats.
