Date help needed

Hi All !

I'm a little stumped on this dress. I would've thought it was 70's or 80's by the look. It is rayon, has a side metal zip, and has an old label. Any thoughts on date ? And should I catbox it until fall or go for it now ? BTW : the roses are much more hot pink than red.
TIA,
Mary

Mary -

I'm with J. His dating is right on the mark.
That particular sleeve length, combined with the silhouette, gave it away in a second.
(I don't miss those sleeves. They tended to be a bit "binding." It's helpful, when selling these particular dresses, to give sleeve measurements - opening, bicep and lower edge.)

Those sleeves may be binding, but I have always thought them to be the most attractive. They highlight the best curves of the forearm, hide the ugly elbow and any upper arm fat, they also visually elongate the torso. Slim elegance! -- so what's a little binding?

As with so many women's fashions - sometimes better for the viewer, than the wearer. :D

I just mentioned that they were binding because earlier sleeves tend to be slimmer than today's fashions and if the dress itself fits a lady well, it would be nice if she were also happy with the slimmer sleeve. (And you're right. The slimmer sleeves are visually becoming.)

My savvier vintage buyers sometimes ask for sleeve circumferences at various parts of the arm, knowing that if their arms are a little heavy, it might be an issue for them.
