Date help on 2 dresses needed

Hi everyone~

I have these two dresses that I can't nail down~ The ruffle one I'm thinking maybe as late as 80's is done in what I think is a textured polished cotton, and the second one - the pattern looks more recent done in an older style shirtwaist design - regular cotton shirting. It also has an elastic waist.

They both are home fashioned so I don't have construction to go on - also no tags~

Thoughts and opinions please?

#2 looks very 80's, and the elastic waist cinches the date for sure. The top one has a lot of 60's elements to it, but....

I agree on #2 - but the first one... hmmmm for some reason it's giving me a late 70's vibe. Maybe very early 80's? But I have NOTHING to base that on. I can't even pinpoint what about it gives me that feeling... so feel free to ignore it :clueless:
I think maybe I had something myself during that time frame that I must be equating your dress with...

I think you're right: late seventies for the first one, 80s for the second. It's good to be cautious, I find, when dating things.
