Date help on this lovely purple/burgundy lace dress by Bernshaw,please. It is a wrap-bodice dress with only the front of the bodice lined, the back is bare and just lace only. When I first saw it, I thought it was 50s/60s-ish but now wonder if it is just 80s/90s with 50s elements?<p>

i think 70's/80's by the font on the label - aren't bernshaw relatively expensive (still) and known for making copies of red carpet dresses? i think?
haven't had a good look but maybe history on their website - 60's/70's/80's style archive may help? not very detailed but there are a few pics;

Wow! thanks Harriet - I'll go have a mooch around there. Funnily enough I've also got a really nice sexy black velvet dress by Bernshaw, which I have about given up trying to photograph - but I'll give it one more try as it is such a cracking dress!

WOW...SMOKING DRESS!!

I adore a dress that is as interesting in the back as the front.
It reminds me of a winter version of Halle Barre's Green Oscar Dress a few years back...the one with the lace back.

I could be wrong but late 70 early 80's.

Oh yeah, I remember that dress you are talking about.

Now, would a gal wear a camisole that is supposed to show acrossed the back a la some of those 20s/30s lace overdresses? Or would a woman have to have the type of figure where she could get away with not wearing proper underthings..or any underthings for that matter....or would have to resort to the pageant remedy. I guess she could wear a low backed long line but i have not seen them that low- at least not in the 70s.

Just wondering. Don't mind me LOL
