Date help on MEN\'S PINK flecked coat...

What do you think about a date on this coat....the style and labels first had me thinking late 40's or early 50's...but the PINK flecks are throwing me off.

There are two large pockets (9"hx8"w)on each side, but then there is a smaller pocket above the one on the RIGHT side, just (not all the way up on the chest) it has a 4" flap and there is a white tag inside that reads YALE 01725 652 36...

Maybe that is the style number, date of June 1952 and size 36? (Chest measures 40)

The coat is from Irving Foster Sportswear

So what do think...is there a specific style name for this?

I am also going to post this on the public board.

Thanks!

Is there a union label in the pocket somewhere? Usually that gives one a clue.

I want to say that it is a true sporting coat rather than just a blazer that is worn with non matching pants, like the other label suggests. I have never seen a convertible collar on a man's blazer aside from that purpose...at least not in the era you are suggesting. I have seen items on ebay/uk use sporting jacket in the title successfully.

The double back vent usually is seen in the early 60s, but if its a sporting jacket thats not a hard and fast rule.

I would do a search for Dacro-Lite and see what you come up with.

BTW...the pink also throws me off. I would expect standard tweed for sporting jackets - but maybe this is for competition??

You see a lot of pink or other colors running through like that in the 80s...but i am sure it is older than that.

I remember my dad had a similar coat. I was born in 55, so his could have dated anywhere from early 50s to early 60s.

I did search Dacro-Lite and found nothing on it. When I searched Irving Foster Sportswear I came up with same military coats but I am still searching that. The lining is made of 50% Dacron and 50% Reprocessed Wool. The coat is wool, possibly gabardine???? a small weave and smooth not fuzzy feeling.

Oh and definately not a blazer type it is too thick and heavy for that.
