Hello me again! :-)

OK I was thinkning mid 60s on this one.. but then I noticed the middle pleat in the skirt/dress and that was a 40s thing... but it has a dryclenaing tag? metal zip down back, buttons are fabric covered and pockets on jacket work but are behind the pocket flap, so they dont really close... I am pretty sure 60's on this but I just want to make sure...

Thank you all!

What a Doll of a set! Looks early 1970's. I like to call these: Carreer Girl Sets". So Mary Tlyler Moore!
The jacket has no collar(right?)reminds me of a "Carlyle" set that I have. Mine is shorter in skirt length and it dates 1971. No maker lables in either piece? Double check the zipper-sure it's not nylon? I can't see in pix, but if it's metal then I could be way off base! That inverted front kick-pleat(?what is it called?) was pleasantly common from 70-72(ish)i love the ish thing)
No matter the Date...It's darling!

zipper

I am sucha goof... sorry I have quite a few dresses that I got at one time so I got confused... Yes this one has a plastic zipper.. with individual teeth htough not coil.

How Can I tell if it is a nylon zipper?

And thanks for your help.... I have taken 3 week crash course at learning vintage!

awesome thank you! Yeah I am trying to learn all the "little hints" for eras.. I have noticed that in the 40s they used alot of "gathering" technique around shoulders and bust areas....

THank you all!

Hi you!

Yes, that collar, and the polyester knit are giveaways to
the 70s. Polkadots also seemed to be big early 70s. I remember having several polka dot dresses - navy, red and
baby blue.

To my understanding, plastic/nylon are a synonymous term as far as zippers go.

Jluthye, If I was trying to learn more I would scoot on over to a high- end vintage store and scan the labels. I'm sure you will see the difference when they are there in person, look at the hem stitchig, the way the label is stitched on, feel the fabric! You'll be teaching us in no time!!
But more importantly is are you looking for a bad storm? do you have a place to go?? I see you are in Fl. I'm in MS maybe 5-6ish hours away... Need refuge?, please let me know, we also have a great campus here that will acomadate family & pets. I live 4 blocks from it.
Prays from all of VFG will be with our Coast Friends.!

Yea I am in Pensacola 5 miles from mississippi.. But we are military and we can go to the shelter on base... But thank you so very much! :-) I think we may miss out on this one and Lousiana may get teh hit again! :-( ... oh and I have been going to vintage stores but I live in a little country area (yes pensacola is po-dunk) But i like it... but all the vintage stores around here are not reliabel to their age,,, Their clothing is vintage yes,, but classified by "age apperance" rather then age,,, so make is confusing.. I find 70s and 80s stuff in the 40s and 50s all the time and I find 60s stuff in the 80s lol... other than that a high end store may be a little out of reach for me until my hubby has some time off where we can drive out of town...

So thank you very muchfor your concern and advice. I will make it a point to hit up a few on our next road trip! :-)

thanks once again!
Jennifer
