Date on Knit Dress/Sweater Outfit?

Would love to keep this cute outfit, but my thighs rejected it! Could anyone tell me what era this is from?

It has gold metallic in the sweater, around sleeves, arms and midriff area. Buttons are textured clear plastic with gold designs. No label. I was thinking maybe 40s, but thought sweater would have to be more fitted.
