Date on this silk teddy

Is the correct term for this lingerie a "teddy"? That seems to be what they're called nowadays. Sorry for the floor shots, but for identification purposes, it shows off the shape of the garment better. The lack of seam finishes (some pinked, some straight cut) and the diamond gusset are telling me vintage. Also, the gusset has a button closure using two shell buttons. The ribbon shoulder straps are non-adjustable. Am I way off in thinking 30s/40s? It has a fabric content tag but no other tags (what is "weighted" silk?). Thank you for any input!

Weighted silk means that it's been washed in mineral solution, usually lead - this process led eventually to shattering, as the lead rotted the silk so by the '50s it was phased out (although I've seen quite a few things from the '50s of weighted silk).

I agree that your teddy looks to be '30s-'40s in style.

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad to hear I made a good guess for the appropriate time period, maybe I'm actually getting better at this!

Hmmm, "weighted" silk sounds a bit scary. Frankly, it feels very like an acetate. The garment is in like new condition, no problems with the silk at all.
