I came across a small (size 3) pair of Terry de Havilland evening shoes today, & would really appreciate if anyone could help date these.

They are a lovely pink with diamonte butterfly detail on the heels, very small size though!

Many thanks.

Hi Coral, What a pretty pair of shoes! Very bling! I'm not a shoe expert but they do look quite modern in shape to me. Perhaps other members will be able to help you? Just wanted to say how cute I think they are ;)

Louise - they are very bling! Thanks for your comments, I thought they were too nice not to buy (£4.00 from a Charity Shop), I just wish they would fit me!

Sarah - many thanks for the link, really interesting site. I know nothing about vintage shoes, I stick to clothes and handbags. I also think that they look quite modern, but the thing that made me question the date of them is the "Made in London, England" details inside the shoes, again I hope that someone could confirm the date for me.

Many thanks.

ck ebay item no 150334414677 down as 80's

ps check out other Terry De Havlliand shoes on Ebay, asking prices are high, so well done! Need a ladder to get on most of them lol!

Yay Coral! That is a super buy! I'm sure there'll be plenty of ladies with dainty feet that will just love them. Good luck with the sale!

That's his old label style which means they are late 1970s. He has started and stopped several times in his career. He opened in the early 70s, closed in the early 80s, reopened under a different name, then closed in the early 90s, then reopened under a different name then closed in the late 90s, then reopened under Terry de Havilland again in 2004 but I don't think his new label is like the original label from the 70s. Its definately not 80s or 90s, although I am not quite sure when he closed the first time, it might have been around 1982, so they might be really early 80s.

Sarah – thanks for the e-bay link, these are very similar to my pair and the same size, will be interesting to see if they sell.

Louise – again, thank you. There are a few of us with smaller feet, but sadly I am a size 4! I am doing my first vintage fashion fair in November in London (very nervous but excited about this!), so I will take them with me, and price them to sell.

Johnathan – many thanks for confirming the date on these shoes for me, I was totally lost, but remembered the name when I picked them up! They may not be highly valuable, but I am still pleased with a £4.00 purchase!

Thanks to all those that have helped me with these shoes, would be lost without this site!

You should definitely make a nice tidy profit from your £4.00. They're unworn and quite a bit older than I thought. Result! Sounds like Terry De Havilland closed and re-opened several times. How confusing! Coral - good luck at the vintage fair in November. Hope you report back on that and post some photos too!

Yes, that pair is very similar, obviously the same line. I'm also doing my very first fair in October and I'm nervous and excited at the same time. May do London at a later date, but I think that would overwhelm me too much first time (doesn't take much!) so I take my hat off to you. If you've got other scrummy finds like those shoes, then you'll do fabulously!

Sarah

ps I take size 4 feet as well, shame the rest of me isn't in proportion!

How interesting - I just saw the man himself on a rerun of the BBC's "Style on trial" that I recorded the other night. It was the episode about the 70s - it seems de Havilland was responsible for the really, really crazy platform shoes then! Anyway, at the beginning of the program, they showed an ad or magazine spread which looked like more late 70s, disco-style, which had a pair of blue shoes not unlike the in it amongst others, and a logo in red, that pretty much looked like the one in these shoes.

Lucky! You can wear all those tiny pairs of vintage shoes that nobody else can fit into!
